Climate Action Plan (CAP)
Climate Action Plan (CAP)
At Edmonton County School, we believe that the school has a moral responsibility to educate the school community on environmental issues, the climate crisis and sustainability, and to work together to make positive and meaningful changes to support the UK’s net-zero strategy.
We have produced a Climate Action Plan (CAP) in line with guidance from the Department for Education, which sets out our strategy under 4 ‘pillars’:
Pillar 1: Biodiversity
Vision: A better environment for future generations: enhancing biodiversity, improving air quality and increasing access to, and connection with, nature in and around education and care settings.
Pillar 2: Decarbonisation
Vision: Reducing direct and indirect emissions from our buildings, driving innovation to meet legislative targets and providing opportunities for children and young people to engage practically in the transition to net zero.
Pillar 3: Adaptation and Resilience
Vision: Resilience to climate change: adapting our education buildings and systems to prepare for the effects of climate change.
Pillar 4: Climate Education and Green Careers
Vision: Excellence in education and skills for a changing world: preparing all young people for a world impacted by climate change through learning and practical experience.
