Sports Spotlight: An Inspiring and Action-Packed Week! - 19th December 2025
It’s been another exciting week for sport, with students benefiting from new experiences and showing great determination in competition:
- Special Guest in PE: We were delighted to welcome an ex-professional squash player, now a coach, into our PE lessons this week. Students had the opportunity to be introduced to squash, gaining valuable insight and inspiration from an experienced athlete.
- Year 11 Football: Our Year 11 team put in a strong performance against AIM North London, finishing level at 3–3 after full time. The match went to penalties, where our students held their nerve to secure a 5–4 win in a dramatic shootout. Well done to everyone involved for their effort, focus, and positive attitude — a fantastic week for school sport!

Jack Petchey - Achievement Awards - November 2025
The Jack Petchey Achievement awards are given every year to students who have done something that needs to be recognised and rewarded within our school community. The following students have been selected by the Phase teams to win an award for their achievements and dedication at school and they are all very deserving winners.
Elissiah is an exceptional student, always very polite and well mannered. She goes out of her way to help others and is very supportive to her peers. Visit by Ataturk Anadolu High School from Istanbul - Tuesday 30th January 24
Visit by Ataturk Anadolu High School from Istanbul - Tuesday 30th January 24
On Tuesday, 30th January, fifteen students from Istanbul Anadolu High School came to visit Edmonton County School. Our Year 12 and Y13 Turkish language students assisted us in extending a ECS welcome to our guests. Some of the visiting students preferred to visit the Maths or French lessons, while others attended lessons in Business and Computer Science. After these lessons each student enthusiastically discussed their experiences in these classrooms. Thank you to Mr Deniz, Ms Pivert, Ms Bozkurt, Mr Lewis and Mr Stone for allowing the students to visit their classes. The principal, a teacher from Istanbul Atatürk Anadolu High School, and our A-level students discussed the educational system at our school and in the UK, the individual courses each student is taking and the stages of university preparation. Students had the chance to interact socially and exchange knowledge and experiences with one another. For both ECS and the visiting students from Istanbul it was a constructive and enjoyable day. Before their visit was over Mr Ferdi Altundas, the principal of Istanbul Atatürk Anadolu High School, offered our Executive Headteacher, Dr Susan Tranter, gifts from Istanbul.
Mr Altundas was impressed with our school and its educational system.
I would also like to thank all my A level Turkish students for their contributions.
